Genomic sequencing

Athina Andonatou made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Health should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Athina Andonatou

Dear Ministry of Health,

As the PCR test does not differentiate between covid variants, how many of the positive PCR tests from 18th December 2021 were sent for genomic sequencing to determine that the variant was Omicron. Also please advise me what organisations carry out the genomic sequencing and provide me with the raw data that was used to determine this.

Yours faithfully,

Athina Andonatou
