Can you please let us know the status of residence applications from
outside NZ?

If INZ has started processing offshore applications, how many applications
have already been processed and how many applications are still pending?

Can you please also provide month-wise processing of applications?

Your request is being processed in accordance with the Act and a response
will be sent to you in due course.

 

Please note that the days from 25 December 2021 to 15 January 2022
(inclusive) are defined as non- working days in the Act and are not
counted in the calculation of the maximum timeframe for our response to
your request. This will affect the time period for responding to your
request.

Our Response

 

We note that you are not eligible to request official information under
Section 12 of the Official Information Act 1982. However, we have provided
you with some general information.

 

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) processes applications in accordance with
general and operational instructions at A16.1 ‘General Instructions as to
the order of processing visa applications’. These can be found online at

INZ have resumed processing some types of residence applications where the
applicant is offshore including the Investor Category Tiers 1 and 2,
Parent Retirement, and the Refugee Family Support Category.

 

As you may be aware, INZ sent communications to Skilled Residence
applicants to advise that we are resuming the processing of offshore
applications and invited applicants to get in touch to discuss next steps.
INZ has actioned withdrawal requests from applicants who do not wish to
proceed.

 

For the remaining applicants, INZ is currently taking pragmatic steps in
preparation to begin allocating offshore Skilled Residence applications
within the next two to three months. As at 1 February 2022, INZ has not
yet allocated further Skilled Residence visa applications where the
principal applicant is outside of New Zealand, and therefore none have
been decided. INZ will allocate based on the priority criteria at A16, and
in date order once the priority criteria are followed. As at 1 February
2022, there are 1824 Skilled Residence applications on hand where the
principal applicant is outside of New Zealand.
