Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

I am the spouse of a NZ citizen, and have a few questions regarding our recently-submitted Critical Purpose Visitor Visa. Our application was submitted Nov 29, 2021 at the time of 1928 by myself (D. Stone).

1. What are current estimated processing times for CPVV's as of today (Dec 1, 2021)? My partner and I have secured an MIQ certification starting Dec 28, 2021, and would love to see if there's any possibility of being able to make that date.

- We have not been able to find updated processing times for CPVV's on Immigration NZ's website, and were just hoping for a ballpark figure; i.e. 2 weeks, 2 months or up to 6 months. This would help us a lot in determining whether or not we needed to cancel flights and plans.

2. Is there any way to expedite the process for obtaining a CPVV?

- We received our ITA on September 21 and applied on November 29. We were notified on Nov 29 that our application was being forwarded to the visa processing department. We would love to see if we were able to pay an additional sum in order to speed up the processing, or to submit any other documentation that might help the case process faster?

3. Is there any way to check on the status of the application besides RealMe?

- We noted on the RealMe site that the application only says "submitted" or "approved". Is there any other way to find out how far along the application is, i.e. via an email notification stating "received by processing dept" or "delayed due to insufficient evidence"?

4. Is there an accurate, department-specific email or phone number I can reach out to regarding CPVV applications?

- The Immigration NZ phone lines continuously ring with no response (we have tried multiple times over the past few weeks), and every contact email we've found on the Immigration NZ website has returned auto-generated responses that the departments are not in office.

Please note that the days from 25 December 2021 to 15 January 2022
(inclusive) are defined as non- working days in the Act and are not
counted in the calculation of the maximum timeframe for our response to
your request. This will affect the time period for responding to your
request.

As your correspondence is not considered a request for official
information under the Official Information Act 1982, I am responding to it
as general correspondence.

Applications for Critical Purpose Work Visas are generally finalised
within 5 working days. However, it can take up to two weeks for an
application to be finalised depending on the circumstances.

 

If your visa application has not been approved when you receive this
email, please reply with your full name, date of birth and application
number and I can check on its status.
