1) How many of the 10 recent covid deaths died from covid vs died with
covid?

The Ministry does not categorise COVID-19 deaths in the manner you have
requested.   While the Official Information Act allows people to ask
government agencies for information they hold, there is no requirement
under the Act to create new information. Therefore, your request is
refused under section 18(g) of the Act on the grounds that the information
is not held by the Ministry, and there is no reason to believe it is held
by another agency subject to the Act.

 

However, I can advise that the Ministry intends in the near future to
begin reporting COVID-19 deaths as either:

o Total deaths
o Died of COVID-19
o Did not die of COVID-19
o Under investigation

 

2) How many of the 10 recent covid deaths in the unvaccinated were from
those ineligible to receive the vaccination?
3) In the 10 recent covid deaths in the unvaccinated, how many had
underlying health conditions?
Parts 2 and 3 of your queries are withheld in full under section 9(2)(a)
of the Act, to protect privacy of natural persons, including deceased
persons.
4)  In the 10 recent covid deaths in the unvaccinated, what were the ages
of the deceased?
This part of your query is withheld in full under section 9(2)(a) of the
Act. All available information regarding COVID-19 deaths are publicly

Dear Ministry of Health,

While the Ministry of Health was initially reluctant to release the
information regarding the vaccination status of recent covid deaths due to
privacy reasons, the RNZ posted an article stating that 10 of the 15
recent covid deaths were in the unvaccinated

As one of the deaths classed as a covid death included someone who died
after a gun shot yet was tested for covid and found to be positive

further clarity is requested. The statement of 10 of the 15 recent covid
deaths in the unvaccinated can appear misleading if taken out of context.
This is a request for information regarding the 10 recent covid deaths in
the unvaccinated:
1) How many of the 10 recent covid deaths died from covid vs died with
covid?
2) How many of the 10 recent covid deaths in the unvaccinated were from
those ineligible to receive the vaccination?
3) In the 10 recent covid deaths in the unvaccinated, how many had
underlying health conditions?
4)  In the 10 recent covid deaths in the unvaccinated, what were the ages
of the deceased?
