Dear University of Auckland,
I have a query related to the employment of university tutors at your institution
What different types of tutoring roles do you have at your university?
What are the qualifications required to become a tutor?
What pathways are there into permanent employment at the university for tutors?
Yours faithfully,
Kendra
From: Rebecca Ewert
University of Auckland
Dear Kendra,
I refer to your request of 18 October 2021. The University’s response
follows.
“What different types of tutoring roles do you have at your university?”
The University of Auckland has 2 different types of Tutor roles – Tutor
and Senior Tutor.
“What are the qualifications required to become a tutor?”
Typically a relevant tertiary qualification would be required. If you wish
to request more information about a specific tutor position then more
specific information can be provided.
“What pathways are there into permanent employment at the university for
tutors?”
The University of Auckland has mainly permanent positions (75%) for Tutors
and Senior Tutors. The 25% of the fixed term positions are due to the
business requirements for these roles. There is progression for the Tutors
to move to Professional Teaching Fellow (PTF) positions.
Yours sincerely,
Rebecca Ewert
