Retail Inspections during Easter 2014
Dan Hawke made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
The request was successful.
From: Dan Hawke
Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
I would like to know:
- How many retail inspections were carried out on the restricted trading days of Good Friday and Easter Sunday of 2014?
- How many retailers were found to be open in breach of regulations?
- How many of these were issued with fine or prosecution?
- What was the cost of these investigations? Or if this is not easily available, how many staff were involved on each of the public holidays?
Yours faithfully,
Dan Hawke

I was hoping so - unless on my third question if prosecutions are handled by the police, how many of the MBIE reports to them are actually being prosecuted... I'm a little fuzzy on how the prosecution side of it actually works.

Who do they need to consult on this? Isn't everyone involved internal to MBIE?
