Dear New Zealand Defence Force,

I have made a similar request in 2018, it has been 3 years now

https://fyi.org.nz/request/9205-new-zeal...

May I ask if there are any further updates/discussions/decision/advice for this matter?

Also if you could provide some more information around how the development goes so far and what you have done for the past 3 years that would be greatly appreciated

Yours faithfully,

john luke

New Zealand Defence Force

Dear John Luke

Thank you for your enquiry of 24 July 2021 regarding progress with advice for the Government on how humanitarian and disaster relief service could be recognised.

The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) has not been able to progress work on this matter because the completion of other long-standing medallic policy projects has taken priority. These projects include a major overhaul of the NZDF's Long Service medals and a review of medallic recognition for service in South East Asia between 1955 and 1989.

Work on options for how humanitarian service could be recognised will be restarted once these other projects have been actioned. Input will be sought from the non-government organisation community during the policy development process.

Kind regards
