Partner and Child Residence Class Visa

Chandan made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Chandan

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

I would like to request monthly data with the no. of partner and Child resident visa applications lodged up to 21.11.2020 that are yet to be allocated to case officers.

I would like to know if there is any priority onshore/offshore for partner and Child resident visa applications. If yes, then for offshore, till which application date case officer is assigned.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,
Chandan

Dear Chandan,

Thank you for your email of 11 February 2021 requesting under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the OIA), the following information:

“1. I would like to request monthly data with the no. of partner and Child
resident visa applications lodged up to 21.11.2020 that are yet to be
allocated to case officers.

2. I would like to know if there is any priority onshore/offshore for
partner and Child resident visa applications. If yes, then for offshore,
till which application date case officer is assigned.”

Under Section 12 of the OIA, requests can only be made by any person,
being-

(a) a New Zealand citizen; or

(b) a permanent resident of New Zealand; or

(c) a person who is in New Zealand; or

(d) a body corporate which is incorporated in New Zealand; or

(e) a body corporate which is incorporated outside of new Zealand but
which has a place of business in New Zealand,

may request a department or Minister of the Crown or organisation to make
available to him or it any specified official information.

From the limited information you have provided in your request it is
unclear that you are eligible to make an OIA request. Therefore before we
can proceed with your request you will need to provide supporting evidence
that you are eligible to make a request.  Proof of eligibility can be
provided confidentially to me via email which is shown in the attached
document.

In order for us to then provide you with the information you are looking
for, you will also need to clarify the specific ‘partner and Child
resident visa application’ you are referring to. This will enable
Immigration New Zealand to then pull the correct data based on the
specific application type you require information on.

Please provide a response with evidence by 17 February 2021.  Note that if
no response is received by close of business on this date, your request
will be closed and considered withdrawn on the basis that you are not
eligible to make a request under section 12 of the OIA, and any responses
after this date will treated as a new OIA request.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Kind Regards,

Lautalie Leausa Vaa
