Dear Elaine
I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your official information request
dated 22 January 2021 asking for the following information:
· the number of tenancies that have been forfeit nationally in the
last 2 years due to the occupant receiving a custodial sentence
or a lengthy remand in custody whilst awaiting sentencing.
Kāinga Ora will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible
and in any event no later than 22 February 2021, being
20 working days after the day your request was received. If we are unable
to respond to your request by then, we will notify you of an
extension of that timeframe.

Dear Elaine S
Thank you again for your email of 22 January 2021 requesting the following
information under the Official Information Act
(1982) (the Act):
· the number of tenancies that have been forfeit nationally in the
last 2 years due to the occupant receiving a custodial
sentence or a lengthy remand in custody whilst awaiting sentencing.
In regard to your request, I am extending the timeframe for providing you
with a response to Monday 8 March 2021.
This extension is made in accordance with section 15A(1)(b) of the Act
[consultations necessary to make a decision on your
request are such that, under the present circumstances, a proper response
cannot reasonably be made within the original
time limit].
Please note that we will endeavour to provide you with a response as soon
as possible within this extended timeframe.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Act to make a complaint to
the Ombudsman about this extension.
