1. Please give information on how the national security check carried out for the skill migrant visa application ,and when aspects they are checking.
2. Is that true that only applicants from certain countries such as China will be required for NSC?

acknowledge your email of 19^th January 2021 requesting under the Official

For chinese nationals when they applying skill migrant visa,they have
been asked to fill the national security check form. 1. Please give
information on how the national security check carried out for the skill
migrant visa application ,and when aspects they are checking. 2. Is that
true that only applicants from certain countries such as China will be
required for NSC?
Your request is being processed in accordance with the Act and a response
will be sent to you in due course.
Please note, due to ongoing COVID-19 response work, requests are currently
being triaged and those relating to Covid-19 processed as a priority.
Remaining requests are being assessed as per the Ombudsman’s guidance

Firstly, I need to ensure that you are able to make such a request as per Section 12 of the Official Information Act (OIA), i.e. you are a New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or in New Zealand. I have included the relevant section of the OIA as well as the relevant web link at the bottom of this email.

I need you to provide confirmation that you meet this section of the OIA. This can be in the form of the following:
• New Zealand citizen or permanent resident - a copy of your passport (non-New Zealand passport holders need to include a copy of your residence visa); or
• In New Zealand - evidence of your New Zealand residential address (e.g. rental agreements, rates bill, etc.) and a copy of your passport.
