RE: OIA 20-21-07 BAE Systems/Hunter Class Frigate Programme.
Thank you for your email below, it will be helpful to exclude information
already released to you to avoid duplication.
I am writing to ask if it possible to refine your request further. Is it
possible for us to use the same time requirements as are used for your
other request (OIA 2019-20-18)? This would refine your request to
information from 1 January 2017 to 10 January 2020.
You will also be aware from your other OIA active with us, that there are
often many administrative emails which lack substance. Is it possible for
us to further refine the scope of your request only substantive emails?
This would greatly assist us with the collation of information you have
requested.
Please note, any clarification or amendment of a request is considered to
be a new request for the purpose of calculating the maximum statutory
timeframe for response—see section 15(1AA) of the Act.

Dear Liam Grandy - WLG,
Thank you for your email. I'm happy to have the request confined to those dates, however, as what constitutes "substantive" requires a judgement on its merits, I would prefer to leave the matter as it stands in terms of its scope.
Thank you
Yours sincerely,

Tēnā koe Valerie,
RE: OIA 20-21-07 BAE Systems/Hunter Class Frigate Programme.
Thank you for your email requesting the following information:
1. Any information held by NZTE - correspondence, briefings, notes, etc - relating to BAE Systems or the Australian Hunter Class Frigate programme.
As we agreed in our earlier correspondence below, the time frame for the information is 1 January 2017 to 10 January 2020.
The Official Information Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the day we received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision to Wednesday 17 March.
This extension is because the consultation necessary to make a decision on your request is such that the decision cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
