Reason for using a dog in electoral commission advertisments

Liam made this Official Information request to Electoral Commission

The request was successful.

From: Liam

Dear Electoral Commission,

I have a question regarding 2020 electoral commission advertising. What is the point in showing a orange dog alongside the "orange guy" in TV advertising?

Yours faithfully,
Liam.

Kia ora Liam

Thank you for your interest in Electoral Commission advertising.

The orange dog is called Pup.

We decided to give orange guy a four-legged companion for two reasons

 1. it adds a fresh element to the look of our advertising and promotional
material and
 2. the presence of two animated characters offers interactive
possibilities (and hence more interest) in future creative content.

Nga mihi
