Good Afternoon – In response to your recent OIA request please refer to
the following response from Taranaki DHB:

 

·        Costs per bed per night at Taranaki Base Hospital – Mental Health
ward?

o   Average cost per bed per night for 2018/19 financial year is $1,098
(per adjusted day)

·        How much does a community residential mental health bed cost per
night?

o   Taranaki DHB does not purchase community residential beds by bed day. 
So bed costs per night information is therefore not available.

Good Morning Patricia – Further to your OIA request regarding the cost of
a ‘community mental health bed per night’ please note the following.

 

The residential service is purchased as a ‘service’ or clinical/non
clinical FTE rather than a day bed rate.  We could divide the service
costs by the number of beds as an option but the figure would be
unreliable as it make some high level assumptions which could be
incorrect.

 

We are able to provide the number of community mental health there are as
well as the number of providers, if this would be useful.
