Dear Mahinawa Specialist School and Resource Centre,
I note that no reply has been received. You may not be familiar with the requirements of the Official Information Act 1982, in which case I can advise that, with limited exceptions, you were legally required to respond to this request as soon as practicable and within 20 working days i.e. by 3 October.
I would appreciate a full response by 11 November. If that is not forthcoming, I will be advising the Ombudsman.
Yours faithfully,

I am sorry I missed this email but have responded in red today.
Please provide the total number of therapists and specialist staff you
employ identified by role. Please include both head count and EFTS.
* OT - 1 occupational therapist = 1 FTE
* SLT -5 speech therapists -4.2 FTE
* PT - 2 physios = 1.2 FTE
* Music Therapy - 2 music therapists = 0.6 FTE + intern 0,6 FTE
* Engagement - 1 engagement specialist = 0.2 FTE
* Behaviour- 2 behaviour specialists = 2 FTE
* Psychologist - 1 contracted psychologist = 0.2 FTE
Also include how many therapist or specialist vacancies you are currently
carrying.
* We have been unable to find OTs for 3 or 4 years and as a result we
have currently 3 vacancies . This year we have been able to recruit
an experienced overseas OT and two beginning OTs who will start in
2026.
* We had a part time physio and have tried to recruit more physio time
for the same period. We ended up finding a senior physio from Nigeria
with UK Physio Board registration and NZ Physio Board registration
who we thought would meet our needs. We thought that this
registration with both boards meant that he had met the standards and
qualification requirements to be a physio in NZ but in actual fact,
both boards do not go into the detail they used when giving
registration and the UK registration means nothing. And nor does the
NZ one either as it is automatically given if you have UK
registration. He has proven to be unable to meet the standards of a
first year physio NZ trained. We are in the process of recruiting
another overseas physio to meet our needs.
