Official Information Act (1982) requests 
 
I write in response to your Official Information Act requests for information submitted between 23 
March and 12 April, requesting various details related to CMDHB facilities and infrastructure. 
 
We are writing to advise we wil  require a 20 working day extension to complete our response. As 
you wil  be aware, we have received a significant number of requests on these matters (45 separate 
questions, in 27 requests from 16 individuals representing 10 agencies/entities).  We have also had a 
number of key staff away on planned leave  during this period,  and a change in the contractor 
engaged to support col ation of the requested material.  In addition, many of the questions relate to 
material that requires us to consult / advise other third parties. In addition, the questions require 
that we research information that has already been archived, as it relates to files of staff that have 
left the organisation.  This wil  be undertaken at the DHB’s own cost. These factors have combined to 
result in a longer than anticipated col ation process. 
 
Therefore,  we are unable to provide our response in the required timeframe for the first of your 
requests submitted between 23 March 2018 and 3 April 2018. 
 
Our intention is to release our responses to al  of the questions raised on these matters during March 
and April 2018, to al  interested parties.  Further, given the importance of this information for our 
people working in these facilities to deliver health care to the people of Counties Manukau, we wil  
release the col ated material for responses to CM Health employees prior to release to the wider 
community. 
 
Under Section 15A of the Official Information Act 1982, we are therefore extending the period for 
responding to your request until Wednesday 23 May 2018. 
 
You have the right, under Section 28(3) of the Official Information Act, to ask the Ombudsman to 
investigate and review my decision to extend the time limit for deciding upon your request.
