Dear Mr Randle
Request for information 2018-013
I refer to your request for information dated 21 January 2018, which was received by Greater
Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) on 21 January 2018. You have requested the following
information:
“As a regular bus user on this route and a PT advocate I am interested in understanding why
Metlink has closed this bus stop [3254 - "Centennial Highway at Glover Street"].
1) Can I also please have a copy of any and all accident and/or safety incident reports that are
associated with the closure of this bus stop ?
2) Can I please have a copy of any and all reports and/or correspondence on the "safety issues" that
lead to and/or recommended that this bus stop be closed ?
3) Can I please have a copy of any and all reports on the recommended changes that are required to
address the safety issues at this bus stop ?”
In order to provide copies of the correspondence on the safety issues that lead to the closure of the
bus stop 3254 at Centennial Highway at Glover Street, GWRC extended the time available to it to
answer your request to 2 March 2018.
GWRC’s response follows.
Attached is a copy of all the information that we have identified as falling within the scope of your
request. You will see that we have removed the information from the correspondence that does not
fall within the scope of your request. This information is identified in the documents as “outside the
scope”.
We have also removed the names and contact details of certain individuals from the correspondence
in accordance with section 7(2)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act
RESPONSE_TO_OIA_2018-013
1987 (the Act) on the basis that withholding the information was necessary to protect privacy of
natural persons.
We have considered whether the public interest in the requested information outweighs GWRC’s
need to withhold certain aspects of the requested information. As a result, we do not consider that
the public interest outweighs GWRC’s reason for withholding parts of the document under the
grounds identified above.
You have the right, under section 27(3) of the Act, to make a complaint about this extension to the
Ombudsman.
Yours sincerely
Wayne Hastie General Manager, Public Transport
