Education Committee noted the following appointments to fill the vacant positions:

Examinations: 2007 Instructions to Examiners and Assessors
Education Committee received Memorandum, 09.10.06 from Deputy Manager,
Examinations forwarding draft 2007 Instructions to Examiners and Assessors.
The Committee noted the following:
•
Page 3: Advice to Students: Faculty of Business and Economics find it difficult
to advise the dates of tests before the term as rooms cannot be confirmed.
Other Faculties are not experiencing this as a problem. The Chair suggested
that the Faculty take this matter up with Lecture Theatre Management Unit.
•
Page 10: Designations (Electronic Calculators): The word “Unrestricted” to be
deleted in 3a and title to read as ‘Calculators are permitted – CP’.
•
Page 26: Point 5 regarding the maximum aegrotat or compassionate passes
permissible would apply to students first enrolled in 2007 or later.
•
Page 30: The last paragraph should read:
‘Examiners’ reports and/or grade recommendations should not be discussed
with students until the examination process is completed. Students may be
provided with examiners and assessors reports after the process is completed
only if all examiners and assessors have waived the right to confidentiality as
set out above.’
RESOLVED to RECOMMEND to Senate and Council that the 2007 Instructions
to Examiners and Assessors be approved subject to the amendments
proposed by Education Committee
