Tetra Traps 2 
 
I refer to your request for information which we received on 6 December 2017, concerning 
additional information relating to Tetra Traps. Please find our response below.  
 
A breakdown of the price of Tetra Traps  
 
As provided in our letter dated 28 November the average cost of a Tetra Trap is $760. The 
contract for installation of these traps was let and priced by external contractors. The 
breakdown of this cost is provided by contractors in the tendering process. Providing a 
breakdown of this cost would be likely to unreasonably prejudice the commercial position of 
these contractors against current and potential competitors. This part of your request is 
therefore refused under s7(2)(b)(ii) of the Local Government Official Information and 
Meetings Act 1987.  
 
 
Outcome of installing Tetra Traps on a trial basis 
 
Council’s Healthy Waters department have commissioned an independent review of the trial 
devices to evaluate the performance of a portion of the installed devices in Pakuranga.   
The performance evaluation is to be carried out over a two year period and includes 
catchpits, catchpit inserts and treatment devices. Healthy Waters have not received the 
findings of this report therefore this information is not held by council.  
 
 
Details of maintenance costs  
 
As above, providing a breakdown of these costs would unreasonably prejudice the 
commercial position of the contractors involved. This part of your request is therefore, 
refused under s7(2)(b)(ii) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act
