Dear Chris,
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
CAS-376052-J0G1W7
Thank you for contacting Auckland Transport on 1 February 2017 requesting copies of the design documents
for the Eastern Green Route cycle way from Devonport to Takapuna.
Auckland Transport (AT) is considering a number of future walking and cycle route and infrastructure
improvements between Devonport and Takapuna. A concept level feasibility investigation is currently
underway and a draft report is expected by the end of April.
You may be under the impression from information that has been shared previously, that an investigation has
been completed. I can assure you that this is not the case. The scope of the current investigation includes
consideration of walking and cycling routes on both the east side and west sides of the Devonport to Takapuna
isthmus.
When received, the draft report will be reviewed internally by AT with consideration about what changes are
necessary, if any, to enable the report to be completed. AT will also consider then whether it wishes to proceed
further with the project.
The ongoing work to develop the feasibility investigation has included liaison with counterparts at Auckland
Council Parks to ensure there is appropriate alignment with the Devonport and Takapuna Greenway Plan and
other projects being developed by Auckland Council Parks.
Once the report has been finalised, an early decision will be taken on how it should be best shared with the
Local Board. The Local Board will then have a view about whether they support the project and if they do, how
information about the project should be shared with the local community. The report is unlikely to be
presented to the local board until at least June 2017.
While there is no report or drawings currently available, I can supply you with a copy of the project mandate,
project initiation document and brief minutes of internal meetings.
I am therefore only able to provide you only with the information that is currently available. Please note that
staff names and contact details have been redacted under section 7(2)(a) of the LGOIMA as withholding the
information is necessary to protect the privacy of natural persons. Redactions to page 13 of the attached
project initiation document has also been made in accordance with 7(2)(i) of the LGOIMA as withholding
the information is necessary to enable any local authority holding the information to carry on, without
prejudice or disadvantage, negotiations (including commercial and industrial negotiations).

I would suggest that you make contact with AT later in the year. By that time, the final report can be made
available to you.
I trust this information has addressed the matters raised however you have the right in accordance with
section 27(3) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) to make a
complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman if you are not satisfied with our response.
Yours sincerely,
Randhir Karma
