Dear Rhys
OFFICIAL INFORMATION REQUEST
I refer to your official information request of 26 August 2016 for
‘…copy’s of any documentation
including tenure review, conservation area access negotiation, to the Ben Oahu conservation
area that have been made with Ferintosh station and particularly Mrs Marion Seymour and
any other party’s that may have had involvement.’
I am advised by Jeremy Severinsen, Partnerships Manager (Tenure Review), that you
subsequently confirmed to him on 30 August 2016 that your request relates to
Ruataniwha Conservation Park rather than the Ben Ohau Conservation Area, and on
5 September 2016 that it is for information relating to:
1. Access negotiation between DOC and Ferintosh Station to Ruataniwha Conservation Park.
2. Access negotiation to Ruataniwha Conservation Park as a part of the tenure review of
Ferintosh Station.
In response to part 1 of your request, DOC has not engaged in negotiations with Ferintosh Station
for access to Ruataniwha Conservation Park.
In response to part 2 of your request, the tenure review process is administered by
Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) on behalf of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
I am, transferring this part of your request under section 14 of the Official Information Act 1982,
to LINZ (for the attention of David Rhodes) as the information to which it relates is more closely
connected with that Department’s functions.
DOC does have a role as part of the tenure review process, which is to provide specialist
conservation advice directly to LINZ. This advice is provided in the form of a conservation
resources report, a recommendation report, and recommendation maps. I have attached copies
of the Ferintosh Station reports and maps for your information.
Yours sincerely
Barry Hanson
