Official information request for Public Health and Forensic Science Directors 
I refer to your official information request transferred to the New Zealand Institute for Public Health and 
Forensic Science Limited (‘PHF Science’) from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment 
dated 20 May 2026 for the following information: 
“Besides meeting fees, do they receive any other benefits, such as expense reimbursement (If so, may I 
request to view your expense reimbursement policy in relation to your board member), a laptop, ID 
card, phone, or similar provisions?” 
 
Our Response: 
Directors receive no benefits beyond their director’s fee. 
Directors are not provided with a laptop or phone. A PHF Science photo identification card is provided 
to directors to enable access to PHF Science buildings. 
Directors may submit expense claims for valid expenses incurred while undertaking PHF Science 
business. These claims are managed in accordance with the Sensitive Expenditure and Gifts Policy. The 
following policy documents have been attached for your reference:
