Thank you for your request of 9 April 2026 to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting
information relating to the Wellington Local Area Committee under the Official Information Act
1982 (OIA). We copy and respond to each aspect of your request below.

1. The date that the Wellington LAC was formally established.

The inaugural members of the Wellington Local Advisory Committee (LAC) were appointed from
4 August 2025.

2. The dates and the minutes of all of the meetings held by the Wellington LAC since its
establishment.

There have been two meeting held since the establishment of the Wellington LAC, the dates of
these are 7 October 2025 and 10 March 2026.

Please find attached, as the Appendix to this response, a copy of the Wellington LAC meeting
minutes from these two meetings.

Please note, the Wellington LAC 10 March 2026 meeting minutes are currently in draft form and
are awaiting approval from the Wellington LAC. If you are interested in the final version of these
meeting minutes, we expect to publish this information around early August 2026 on our
website: www.fireandemergency.nz/about-us/local-advisory-committees/local-advisory-
committee-meeting-minutes/.

3. Copies of the advice given to FENZ by the Wellington LAC since its inception and/or any
other reports provided by the LAC to FENZ (including the Board)

We can advise that the Wellington LAC has not provided any reports or advice to Fire and
Emergency from 4 August 2025 to date. For this reason, this portion of your request is being

refused under section 18(e) of the OIA, as the document alleged to contain the information
requested does not exist.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
freephone 0800 802 602.

We trust that the information being provided is of assistance. If you require further information,
please email [FENZ request email]
