Thank you for your request to the Education Review Office requesting
information about Shiloh Christian Academy. On 14 April 2026, the following
parts of your request were transferred to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry):

. **Ministry of Education Records**
* All records relating to the registration, licensing, or review of Shiloh Christian
Academy.
* Any correspondence between the Ministry and the school concerning
compliance with legal or safety requirements.
* Any internal Ministry communications discussing concerns about corporal
punishment at the school.
3. **Complaints and Notifications**
* Records of any complaints received by the Ministry regarding Shiloh
Christian Academy.
4. **Regulatory Action**
* Any consideration, discussion, or decision regarding suspension,
cancellation, or conditions placed on the school’s registration.
* Records showing what actions were taken following any identified breaches
(including corporal punishment or abuse concerns).

Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
As advised on 13 May 2026, we have carried out a thorough search in our records
and could not find any information relating to Shiloh Christian Academy held by the
Ministry.

In addition, we have carried out a search of information related to Shiloh Christian
Academy held by Archives New Zealand. This identified four files relating to Shiloh
Chistian Academy for the period 1980-1997. On 13 May 2026, we provided you with
links to two publicly available files on the Archives New Zealand website.
The remaining two files related to Shiloh Christian Academy held by Archives
New Zealand for this period are restricted for public access. We have reviewed these
files to identify information in scope of your request. The documents are attached to
this response as
Appendices A, B, C, D, E, F and G.
We have withheld a small amount of information about individual students at the
school under section 9(2)(a) of the Act, to protect the privacy of natural persons,
including that of deceased natural persons.
We have also withheld a small amount of information containing legal advice about
regulatory interventions related to the school under section 9(2)(h) of the Act, to
maintain legal professional privilege.
As required under section 9(1) of the Act, I have considered the public interest in
releasing the information withheld. I do not consider that the public interest
considerations favouring the release of this information are sufficient to outweigh the
need to withhold it at this time.
