Re: Official Information Act request for payments made to select staff by outgoing CE 
 
I refer to your email to the Education Review Office dated 1 April 2026 requesting the following 
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA): 
 
•  Please advise the total number of people, and the amounts paid per person, to a select group of 
ERO employees outside of normal salary or leave payments at the discretion of the outgoing CE 
Nicholas Pole, and the rationale for such payments. 
 
The Chief Executive made no payments outside of the normal remuneration review process covered by 
Individual and Collective Employment Agreements. I am therefore refusing your request under section 
18(g)(i) of the OIA, as the information is not held by ERO and there is no reason to believe another 
agency may hold it.
