Thank you for your email of 28 March 2026 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) via the
FYI website requesting the following information:
1) Copies of any evaluation reports, scoring summaries, or recommendation documents
relating to the selection of mathematics resource suppliers for 2027–2029.
2) Any advice, briefings, or summary documents that outline the reasons why Procon
Education / Numicon was not selected as a supplier.
3) Any documents or advice that support the statement that current Numicon student books
wil be “out of date from the end of 2026.”
4) Any advice, analysis, or briefing documents that consider the impact on schools currently
using Numicon, including any consideration of costs already incurred by schools or any
transition support.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
The Ministry needs to extend the timeframe for responding to your request, pursuant to section
15A(1)(b) of the Act, as consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such
that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. You can now
expect to receive a response to your request on or before 20 May 2026, which is an extension
of 15 working days.
