Dear Erika
Official Information Request
Our Ref: OIA 2026-0061
I refer to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) received on 19 March 2026 where you
asked:
“How many employers contacted COVIDredeployment at publicservice.co.nz
[COVIDdeployment @publicservice.govt.nz] for redeployment for unvaccinated staff in

2021/2022?
Our response
The Public Service Commission (the Commission) did not keep a central record of which, or
how many, agencies it supported with the redeployment of unvaccinated staff  in
2021/2022.
The Commission provided guidance to support border agencies to work with their
unvaccinated employees.   From records available, four agencies approached the
Commission for advice on managing unvaccinated staff, including redeployment options.
If you wish to discuss this decision with us, please feel free to contact
