Request for Information
Thank you for your email dated 19 March 2026 for information related to the sale of
the Council-owned Odeon building and Manchester Street land parcels. Your request
has been referred to me to reply.
At the time of receiving your request, the sale of the council owned, historic Odeon
Theatre building and Manchester Street land parcels has not yet been completed. The
sale is in its settlement period. Therefore, Canterbury Regional Council is unable to
answer several of your questions, in accordance with section 17(g) of the LGOIMA
as
the information is not held as the sale has not yet been completed.
We can advise that there have been no consents issued by Canterbury Regional
Council in relation to land parcels 117 and 125 Manchester Street or 214 Tuam Street,
since February 2011. We are unable to advise if any consents have been issued by
Christchurch City Council, however we understand from your request that you wil be
contacting them for this information.
Once the sale process has been completed, the remainder of the information you have
requested may be available for release. If this is the case, Canterbury Regional Council
will provide you with an updated response.
