Official Information Act request
Thank you for your email of 14 March 2026, to the Ministry of Social Development
(the Ministry), requesting information relating to Rangiora Lodge Motel.
I note your email of 17 March 2026 in which you advised the Ministry you were
withdrawing the second part of your request. I have therefore not considered that
part in my response.
I have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
Please find my decision on your request set out below.
•
any contracts between MSD, or any associated organisations, with entities
associated with, or trading as, the Rangiora Lodge Motel;
Rangiora Lodge Motel is a current supplier for emergency housing with the
Ministry.
Please note, the Ministry registers emergency housing suppliers for the purpose of
facilitating payments on behalf of eligible clients. Registered supplier status does
not connote a contractual relationship between the Ministry and Supplier, or an
endorsement of the services provided. More information can be found here:
www.workandincome.govt.nz/providers/housing-providers/emergency-
housing/index.html. I am therefore refusing your request for contracts under section 18(e) of the Act,
on the basis that the information you have requested does not exist.
If you wish to discuss this response with us, please feel free to contact
[MSD request email]. If you are not satisfied with my decision on your request, you have the right to
seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman. Information about how to
make a complaint is available
at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or 0800 802 602.
