I am responding to your email of 12 March 2026 to the Department of Internal Affairs
(the Department) requesting the fol owing under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
I noted, you have call expression of interest for Archives Council. May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for public
nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad and pay rate for the role as wel . Also,
how many applications you have received for each of the role from the public and how many
you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for
your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.
Also, how many space you are looking to fil in this round. Would you provide any equipment to
the successful candidate (e.g., a laptop, mobile phone, etc.)? Also, what other benefits would
they receive besides payment, such as Air NZ Koru membership or other perks?
The Department first provided an initial response to you on 13 April 2026. At this time, you notified
the Department that an element of your request had been excluded from our response.
This came about due to an addition to your initial request. Your initial request as written above was
received on 12 March 2026, however you amended your request on 14 March 2026 to include the
following:

Our response has now been updated to reflect your updated request. The ful response including
your additional question regarding equipment and benefits is set out below.
Responses to your questions are set out below.
The Department advertised for applications to the Archives Council via the Department’s statutory
appointments webpage and through the public platforms SEEK and LinkedIn. The opportunity was
also promoted through Te Rōpū Whakahau | National Library of New Zealand. A copy of the

Appendix A.
The Department received a total of 15 applications in this appointment round. This includes:
• One application received from the Ministry for Ethnic Communities, and
• One application received from the Ministry for Women.
There are three member roles on the Archives Council to be fil ed in this appointment round.
Shortlisting has not yet been completed, as applications are currently under assessment. As a result,
no interviews have been conducted to date. Accordingly, this aspect of your request is refused under
section 18(e) of the Act, as the information requested does not yet exist.
The Department wil not provide any equipment to successful candidates. This includes, but is not
limited to, laptops, mobile phones, or other devices.
In addition, the Department will not provide any benefits or perks beyond payment for services. This
means we will not provide Air New Zealand Koru membership or any other non-financial benefits.
