Thank you for your requests of 2 March 2026 to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting
information in relation to the properties at 38 Pirie Street, Mount Victoria and 112 Quebec Street,
Owhiro Bay Wellington under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). Specifically:
1. Evacuation procedure / scheme that you have approved on either of the two properties
2. Complaints received pertaining the two properties
3. Building visit / Investigations / inspection reports of these two properties
4. Advice provided to either MBIE (e.g Tenancy services) / other authorities re: Fire safety of
these two properties
5. Additionally please provide the review relating to building consent of the two properties,
especially relating to the certificate of public use / public access provision these commercial
premises would have.
We can confirm Fire and Emergency does not hold any information falling within the scope of your
request for either addresses. For this reason, your request is refused under section 18(e) of the
OIA, as the documents alleged to contain the information requested do not exist.
However, we can advise that following your request, the local Risk Reduction team has been
notified of your concerns regarding these properties. They will be checking both properties to
determine whether any compliance issues require addressing.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
