Thank you for your email of 19 February 2026, in which you request the following under
the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
“1. the list of the entire delegation accompanying prime minister Luxon to Malaysia
in February October 2025
2. schedule of prime minister Luxon in Malaysia in October 2025”
On 19 March 2026, the timeframes for responding to your request were extended by an
additional 5 working days due to the consultations necessary to make a decision on your
request (section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA refers).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (the Ministry) has prepared two documents
(attached in Annex One), to provide a summary response to your request (section
16(1)(e) of the OIA refers). These are:
•
Delegation list: Comprising those who travelled to Kuala Lumpur as part of the
visit; and
•
Visit Schedule for the Prime Minister in Kuala Lumpur.
Please note that the delegation list excludes personnel based at the New Zealand
High Commission in Kuala Lumpur who also assisted with this visit.
Te Kapa Haka o Ngāti Whakaue also travelled as part of the delegation. The names of
the individual members are withheld under section 9(2)(a): to protect individuals’
privacy.
Further names are withheld under section 6(a), to avoid prejudicing the security or
defence of New Zealand or the international relations of the New Zealand Government.
Where the information has been withheld under section 9 of the OIA, no public interest
in releasing the information has been identified that would override the reasons for
withholding it.
