[FYI request #33680 email]
Dear James
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request to NZ Transport Agency
which was partially transferred to New Zealand Police on 17 February 2026. The parts
transferred were:
1. The certificate of calibration/accuracy for all mobile safety cameras
operated in Christchurch for the Past 12 months
Please find Included with my response copies of the Certificates of Accuracy for all
mobile safety cameras that were operating within the Canterbury District.
2. The certificate of calibration/accuracy for all fixed safety cameras
operated in Christchurch for the Past 12 months
Please note that as of 31 January 2025, all fixed safety cameras within the Canterbury
District were transferred to NZTA. As a result, NZTA will address this component of your
request in due course.
3. Any available operator logs, radar setup confirmation, or audit records for
the deployment of Mobile and Fixed speeds camera in Christchurch for
the Past 12 months.

I refer you to Appendix 1, included with my response which contains a full report log of all
mobile safety camera deployments within the Christchurch District between February and
June 2025.
Copies of all deployment registers for the mobile safety cameras listed in Appendix 1
have also been included. Unfortunately, we were unable to locate the deployment
registers for two cameras referenced in the report (CU0060 deployed on 20 May 2025
and CR0091 deployed on 5 June 2025). This part of your request is therefore refused
pursuant to section 18(e) of the OIA as the document al eged to contain the information
requested does not exist or, despite reasonable efforts to locate it, cannot be found.
Please note that as of 1 July 2025, Police is no longer responsible for the operation of
traffic safety cameras, including mobile speed cameras. This responsibility has been
transferred to NZTA, and its deployment practices and policies may differ from those
previously used by Police.

As advised on 17 February, the information provided by Police covers the period 10
February 2025 to 30 June 2025. You wil  receive a separate response from NZTA for the
period 1 July 2025 to 10 February 2026, which wil  include all information requested
relating to fixed safety cameras as noted above.
If you are not satisfied with the way I have responded to your request, you have the right
under section 28(3) of the OIA to ask the Ombudsman to review my decisions.
Information on how to do this is available online at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
Yours sincerely
