Request made under the Official Information Act 1982
Thank you for your email of 10 February 2026 requesting the fol owing information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
1.The certificate of calibration/accuracy for al mobile safety cameras operated in Christchurch for
the Past 12 months
2. The certificate of calibration/accuracy for al fixed safety cameras operated in Christchurch for
the Past 12 months
3. Any available operator logs, radar setup confirmation, or audit records for the deployment of
Mobile and Fixed speeds camera in Christchurch for the Past 12 months.
To provide context, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) began enforcing from fixed safety
cameras in July 2024 and mobile safety cameras from May 2025. From the time that NZTA has been
enforcing, please find all certificates of calibration and accuracy for each type of camera on our
website at this link:

cameras/safety-camera-testing-and-certification Prior to the above timeframes, NZ Police were the agency responsible for the enforcement of safety
cameras. As such, information regarding the certificate of calibration/accuracy for mobile safety
cameras between the period March 2025 and May 2025 has been partial y transferred to NZ Police for
response.
With respect to question 3 of your request, the scope of this query is very broad in nature and likely to
involve hundreds of documents that could potentially fall in scope. On 18 and 26 February 2026, we
sought to refine this aspect of your request however have not received a response from you.
We have considered whether charging or extending the timeframe for responding to your request
would help, as required by section 18A of the Act. However, the volume of information is such that
neither option is feasible for NZTA to apply in this case.
I am therefore refusing this part of your request under section 18(f) of the Act as the information
requested cannot be made available without substantial collation or research.

Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse
