LINKEDIN POST: Chair
On behalf of the Mayor of Auckland and the Minister of Transport, the Ministry of Transport and Auckland
Council are seeking a high-calibre chair to lead and establish the Auckland Regional Transport Committee
(ARTC). The ARTC, as a joint statutory committee of Government and Auckland Council, is a new and
unique structure in the transport system.
This role will be at the forefront of the ARTC as it creates the first 30-year transport plan for Auckland, and
prepares the Auckland Regional Land Transport Plan.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in either board chair or senior executive roles. Priority
experience includes:
• extensive understanding of the Auckland context, including the local and central government
operating environments;
• strategic planning;
• engagement at senior levels and with a broad range of stakeholders with an ability to bring
together diverse views and competing interests; and
• some combination of transport planning, spatial planning, economics and infrastructure
delivery.
The ARTC will be focused on achieving alignment between Government and Auckland Council priorities,
setting direction for the transport system in Auckland and ultimately improving transport outcomes across
Auckland.
Appointments to the ARTC are subject to the passing of the Local Government (Auckland Council)
(Transport Governance) Amendment Bill.
The appointment of the chair will be for an initial term of up to three years. The chair will be remunerated
at a daily rate, commensurate with their responsibilities and experience.
