I refer to your request for information dated 10 December 2025 requesting information around
infringements.
Do you fol ow the NZ legislation's infringement fees schedule when enforcing parking fines? https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.legislation.govt.nz/regulation/public/1999/0099/latest/DLM280

And based on this information, how much do you consider the infringement fee for the offence of parking
at or close to a bus stop for three minutes?
Auckland Transport applies infringement fees in accordance with the Land Transport (Offences and
Penalties) Regulations 1999, Schedule 1B (as amended 1 October 2024). These regulations set the scale of
fees for parking offences, and AT enforces them as prescribed by law.
Legislative basis for bus stop restrictions is in
Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004, clause 6.8, which
prohibits stopping, standing, or parking within 6 metres of a bus stop sign (except for buses). If a bus stop
area is specifically marked out as longer or shorter than 6 metres,
clause 6.15 applies to the marked area.
Offence and fee (unmarked sign):
•
Infringement Code: P109
•
Description: Parked a vehicle within 6 metres of a bus stop sign
•
Fee: $70 (updated national schedule effective 1 October 2024)
•
Legislation: Road User Rule 2004,
clause 6.8; fee set under Land Transport (Offences and Penalties)
Regulations 1999,
Schedule 1B (“All other parking offences” = $70)
Marked bus stop area (prohibited area): For
parking at or close to a bus stop where the area is
marked (e.g., a painted bus stop box or
broken
yellow lines indicating “no stopping”), the offence is treated
parking in a prohibited area, and the fee is
$100 under the updated schedule. The duration does not affect the fee—it is a strict liability offence.
Should you believe that we have not responded appropriately to your request, you are able to make a
complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman in accordance with section 27(3) of the LGOIMA and seek an
investigation and review in regard to this matter.
Yours sincerely
