Request for information
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request received 21 November
2025, in which you requested information regarding OIA requests received by Police
between 11 and 21 November 2025. I have responded to each part of your request
below.
1. The total number of Official Information Act (OIA) / information-requests
received by New Zealand Police between 11 November 2025 and the date
this request is received.
New Zealand Police (Police) receive OIA requests through various channels, which are
recorded into Police’s Information Request Tool (IRT). The total number of OIA requests
recorded in IRT as received between 11 November 2025 and 21 November 2025 was
1330.
Please note that this figure excludes media queries and traffic crash reports, unlike the
figures provided to the Public Service Commission for its six-monthly reporting. There will
also be minor variances in the total number of requests, as records are updated regularly
and an OIA received on a particular date may not be recorded for some time afterward.
2. A simple breakdown of those requests by date (YYYY-MM-DD) and short
subject line (e.g. “McSkimming”, “device searches”, “communications with
Crown prosecutors”, “other”). If practicable, please provide the number of
requests that explicitly reference “McSkimming” or the IPCA report.
I have interpreted that you are specifically interested in requests relating to Mr Jevon
McSkimming. Table 1 summarises the number of Mr Jevon McSkimming-related requests
received during this period, by subject.

3. If Police publish a running OIA log or a public statistics table that wil be
updated to include these requests, please provide the link or location of that
publication.
The Public Service Commission publishes six-monthly updates of the Public Service’s
OIA statistics. This can be found here
https://www.publicservice.govt.nz/guidance/official-
information/oia-statistics. Police receives around 30,000 to 40,000 OIA requests in any
six month period across a very wide range of topics and does not report on the range of
topics on which information is sought. Police does not currently publish a running OIA log
or public statistics table.
If you are not satisfied with my response to your request, you have the right to seek an
investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to
make a complaint is available
at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802
602.
