[FYI request #32907 email] Tēnā koe Steven
Thank you for your request of 10 March 2026 to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting the
following information:
•
I am replying to part of your response:
"We have not yet allocated individual appliances to individual stations, except for the trial
appliance P4937, which is allocated to Rotorua. The SEM MAN appliance, build number
001, is allocated to New Plymouth."
I find this information to be inaccurate, at the time of publishing, as an internal Fire and
Emergency contact advises these appliances have been allocated to individual stations,
specifically by individual appliance.
1. Please provide this information as previously requested:
a) Appliance Build Number (Pxxx)
b) Appliance Callsign (NHQ 3xxx)
c) Destination Station (E.G. Te Rapa, Wellington City, Dunedin) Cascading Station
Details
2. Please also include any emails in the last 12 months that mention anything relating to the
MAN Cascade Plan, specifically between to or from the National Fleet Manager, or other
such parties involved in this process.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), and our response
is provided below.
At the time of our response being provided for your initial request on 18 February 2026, the
information you received regarding the individual appliances not yet being allocated to individual
stations was accurate.
The cascading station details have not yet been determined. For this reason, this aspect of your
request is refused under section 18(e) of the OIA, as the document alleged to contain the
information requested does not exist.
In line with our obligations under the OIA to make and communicate our decision on your request
within the statutory timeframe, we have decided to grant all other aspects of your request.
However, it will take us a little more time to prepare the information for release. The information
will be provided to you without undue delay and no later than 6 May 2026.
Some information has been withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the OIA, to protect the privacy of
natural persons. We have also redacted an email captured in the chain of correspondence which is
not about the MAN cascade plan, and this will be labelled as
out of scope in the attached PDF.
In making this decision, we have considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of
the OIA.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is availab
le at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
freephone 0800 802 602.
We trust that the information being provided is of assistance. If you require further information,
please email [FENZ request email]
