Good morning,s 9(2)(a), and Genevieve,
I hope everything going well for you
Regarding your points in email below:
1/. I can confirm that The Strand Optimisation project is not going to make much/any difference to stormwater outcomes or flooding – The flooding issue is a much more substantial beast and Auckland
Council Healthy Waters and Flood Resilience team will be the best team to confirm any short/long term plans that will help to mitigate risk. The NZTA/AT project primary aims are to improve travel
choices, efficiency for freight and safety for road users along the corridor of The Strand
The only thing that will change for stormwater is 4 minor points of collection and conveyance around carpark north of The Strand. See Snip Below. Where the designers have proposed field pits and
225mm diameter connections I have simply asked that they propose standard catchpits and 300mm diameter connections to enhance the reliability of the collection and conveyance system here.
Standard catchpits have substantially greater collection capacity than field pits, and a 300mm diameter connection has twice the conveyance capacity of a 225mm diameter pipe. I have also requested
that proposed works be in accordance with the NZTA P46 specification for stormwater that stipulates standard catchpits and minimum 300mm diameter pipes.
