Thank you for your request of 4 March 2026 to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting the
following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
1. How many of these trucks have undergone fleet specification testings so far?
2. What issues have been identified that are causing delays in these being released to
brigades? and what is being done to fix them? if no issues then please explain reasons for
the delay.
3. Have FENZ delayed delivering these trucks to stations due to Industrial Action for any
reason? if so please give detail.
4. What is the current expected completion date (i.e. responding to calls) for all these trucks?
5. Please provide any communications between the Chief Executive TEAM and Fleet Team for
January and February 2026 regarding the these trucks.
In line with our obligations under the OIA to make and communicate our decision on your request
within the statutory timeframe, we have decided to grant your request. However, it will take us a
little more time to prepare the information for release. The information will be provided to you
without undue delay and no later than 1 May 2026. Some information has been withheld under the
following:
• section 9(2)(a) of the OIA, to protect the privacy of natural persons;
• section 9(2)(ba)(i) of the OIA, to protect information which is subject to an obligation of
confidence or which any person has been or could be compelled to provide under the
authority of any enactment, where the making available of the information would be likely
to prejudice the supply of similar information, or information from the same source, and it
is in the public interest that such information should continue to be supplied;
• section 9(2)(b)(ii) of the OIA, to protect information where the making available of the
information would be likely unreasonably to prejudice the commercial position of the
person who supplied or who is the subject of the information;
• section 9(2)(h) of the OIA, to maintain legal professional privilege; and
• section 9(2)(j) of the OIA, to enable a Minister of the Crown or any public service agency or
organisation holding the information to carry on, without prejudice or disadvantage,
negotiations (including commercial and industrial negotiations).
In making this decision, we have considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of the
OIA.
