Thank you for your request of 7 December 2025 to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting
information relating to 28 Angloco MAN Type 3 trucks under the Official Information Act 1982
(OIA). We copy and respond to each aspect if your request below.
1. Was any additional information provided to the Deputy Chief Executive to support the
statement that 28 trucks would be delivered to communities before Christmas?
If so, please supply it. If not, was the statement inaccurate?
There was no further information provided to support the statement referred to than what was
supplied in our previous response dated 5 December 2025.
The statement made was not accurate as it referred to the delivery date of the trucks, rather than
the date that al appliances were planned to be operational. After an appliance is delivered to Fire
and Emergency, the brigade that is to receive the truck is trained on it before it is delivered to
them and becomes operational. The statement made did not take into account the time it would
take to train brigades
2. Has FENZ issued any correction to the public statement that 28 trucks would be delivered
to communities before Christmas?
A correction to this statement has not been issued.
3. Has the accuracy of this statement been reviewed to ensure alignment with FENZ values? If
not, does the statement align with those values?
The accuracy of the statement referred to has not been reviewed to ensure alignment with Fire
and Emergency values. The remainder of your request asks if Fire and Emergency considers that
the statement aligns with those values. The primary purpose of the OIA is to al ow requesters to
seek information that is held by an agency. It is not a mechanism for requesters to seek an
agency’s explanation or opinion, as this would be the creation of information.
4. Given that DCE Megan Stiffler describes herself as a career firefighter, has she visited any
career stations, crews, or incidents involving career staff during 2025?
Deputy Chief Executive Operational Response Megan Stiffler regularly met with career firefighters
at stations during 2025.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
