Thank you for your email of 3 October 2025 to the Ministry of Business, Innovafion and 
Employment (MBIE) requesfing, under the Official Informafion Act 1982 (the Act), the fol owing 
informafion: 
 
Quesfion 1: Are there levies col ected from the generafion and distribufion of electricity 
which are used by Worksafe? 
Quesfion 2: When was the last fime and that levies were col ected under the Electricity Act 
which have been used or distributed by Worksafe ? 
Quesfion 3: At that fime what was the total value of the levies over the last 5 years? 
Quesfion 4: What percentage of the levies were spent on operafion and improvement 
ofthe ‘demand site instal afions’ (ie that was not spent on generafion, the electricity 
market, transmission or distribufion)? 
 
Quesfion 1: Are there levies col ected from the generafion and distribufion of electricity which 
are used by Worksafe? 
 
Yes, some levies col ected from electricity generafion and distribufion are used by WorkSafe, but 
it is part of a larger funding structure. Some funds are specifical y for WorkSafe's Energy Safety 
funcfion, while the "Working Safer Levy" col ected by ACC also supports WorkSafe's general 
health and safety acfivifies, though not specifical y from the electricity generafion and 
distribufion sector. 
 
Quesfion 2: When was the last fime and that levies were col ected under the Electricity Act 
which have been used or distributed by Worksafe ? 
 
The Energy Safety Levy is an on-going levy. As menfioned in Q1, levies are not col ected under 
the Electricity Industry Act specifical y for WorkSafe. Instead, the Electricity Authority col ects a 
levy from the electricity industry to fund its own funcfions, and a porfion of these funds are used 
for electricity-related safety and standards, including those enforced by WorkSafe.

MBIE does not hold this informafion. I am therefore refusing this part of your request under 
secfion 18( e) of the Act, that the document al eged to contain the informafion requested does 
not exist or, despite reasonable efforts to locate it, cannot be found
