Thank you for your Official Information Act request, received on 25 September 2025. You 
requested:  
These questions are asked of WorkSafe in its role as the Regulator for the Electricity Act. 
Question 1: Are there levies collected from the generation and distribution of electricity 
which are used by Worksafe? 
Question 2: When was the last time and that levies were collected under the Electricity Act 
which have been used or distributed by Worksafe ? 
Question 3: At that time what was the total value of the levies over the last 5 years? 
Question 4: What percentage of the levies were spent on operation and improvement of 
the ‘demand site installations’ (ie that was not spent on generation, the electricity market, 
transmission or distribution)? 
WorkSafe believes that your request is more closely connected to the functions of the Ministry of 
Business, Innovation and Employment. Accordingly, we have decided under section 14(b)(ii) of the 
Official Information Act to transfer the request to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and 
Employment.  
Please note that the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment must decide on the request 
as soon as practicable, and no later than 20 working days from receipt of this transfer 
notification.
