Thank you for your Official Information Act request received on 25 September 2025. You
requested:
“...information on exposure limits in the workplace for radio frequencies. This
would be for various radio frequencies 600MhZ and up.
Would you please share the information you have as the workplace regulator
under s191 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015? For example the watts
per square meter exposure limit? or SAR limit?”
I regret that we did not provide a response to your 25 August 2025 correspondence.
Requested Information Workplace radiofrequency exposure limits are not set by WorkSafe and as such,
WorkSafe New Zealand does not hold any information in scope of your request.
The standard
NZS 2772.1:1999: Radiofrequency fields –Maximum exposure levels –
3kHz to 300 GHz specifies the limits of exposure to the human body. This standard is
available to purchase from the Standard New Zealand website here:
