Re: Auckland Skatepark Renewal 
 
Thank you for your request dated 23 September 2025, for information about Skateparks in 
Auckland.  
Please provide a list of all skatepark renewal, refurbishment, or upgrade projects 
funded or delivered by Auckland Council (including by Local Boards) from 1 January 
2015 to today. 
For each project, please include: 
Project name and location (park/reserve + suburb) 
Type of work (e.g., resurfacing, equipment replacement, concrete re-pour, extension, 
lighting, etc.) 
Start and completion dates 
Total cost (broken down by design, build, contingency, professional services if 
available) 
Funding source (renewals budget, LDI capex, Fix & Finish, other) 
Which team or Local Board managed the work 
Contractor(s) used (including specialist skatepark builders if any) 
Which procurement pathway was used for each (open tender, panel, direct 
award/waiver, design–build, etc.)? 
Evaluation criteria or weighting (if available) that guided contractor selection. 
If a project was not competitively tendered, please provide the procurement waiver or 
decision memo. 
Any post-completion evaluation or audit reports (including safety audits or “lessons 
learned” memos). 
Any records showing: 
community engagement or consultation (e.g., “Have Your Say” pages, concept plans), 
number of defects, warranty claims, or resurfacing due to poor quality.

Please provide the details on procurement for these projects for the last 2 years, as 
well as upcoming on the next 3 years, please include:

4. Was there any additions added to these renewals, and if so, was the public/users 
given the opportunity to provide feedback? 
Please find attached a list of the skate and wheeled play projects managed by the Parks and 
Community Facilities department including their budgets, any consultation undertaken, and 
triggers for renewal projects 
1.  The procurement pathway used for each project (open tender, panel, 
direct award/waiver, design–build, etc.) 
2.  Evaluation criteria or weighting (if available) that guided contractor 
selection 
3.  If a project was not competitively tendered, the procurement waiver or 
decision memo 
We have liaised with our Procurement team who would usually manage the information related 
to the above part of your request. 
 
Our Procurement information is not held in our systems in a way where it can be easily 
attributed to projects and extracted according to the level of detail being requested. 
The projects listed would require manually checking individual Project records, reviewing the 
information and confirming the procurement process and what documentation exists for each 
of those projects.  
This would take an estimate of 24 hours to find all the projects noted. We have however noted 
which projects have not yet commenced procurement as they are stil  prior to construction. 
 
We are refusing your request at this stage in accordance with Section 17 (f) of Local 
Government Official Information Act, where your request cannot be met without substantial 
collation or research.  

Please note we may also impose a charge for the information, should you consider this 
option, we can provide further details on our charging policy. 
 
The decision by Auckland Council to release the information contained in this part of response
