Extension of time to respond to request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your query of 4 September 2025 regarding the risk of dogs on Te Ara Tupua - the 
Petone to Ngauranga Cycle path and requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
We request under the OIA all documents, assessments, memos and emails - whether 
internal or by external agencies or consultants - related to the reassessment of this risk 
 
This letter is to advise you that NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is extending the 20 
working days available to respond to your request, as allowed for under section 15A of the Act. 
We require an additional 5 working days and wil  send you a response on or before 9 October 
2025.  
 
The deadline is being extended as the consultations necessary to make a decision on your 
request are such that a thorough response cannot reasonably be made within the original 20-
working-day limit.  
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to complain to the Ombudsman about the 
extension. More information about the Ombudsman is available online at 
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
