Thank you for your email of 28 August 2025 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
(MBIE), requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
I noted, you have recently call for nomination for the fol owing:
New Zealand Registered Architects Board
Earth Sciences Institute New Zealand
Bioeconomy Science Institute
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for public
nominations for the each above, e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as wel . Also, how
many applications you have received for each of the role from the public and how many you
have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your
role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed. Also, can you please
let me know how many vacancy per each entity you had.
Please see below my response to each part of your request.
Public nominations for the
New Zealand Registered Architects Board (NZRAB) position were as follows:
• Public nominations were sought through Seek, jobs.govt, and MBIE jobs.
• Ministerial nominations were also sought, and the advert was circulated through nominating
agencies, specifically Ministry for Women, Ministry for Ethnic Communities, Ministry for Pacific
Peoples, Ministry of Disabled People, and Te Puni Kokiri.
• Advert (position description)

• We received 31 applications in total, two of which were through the Ministry for Women
network.
• We have not yet shortlisted, nor interviewed any candidates for the role.
• This appointment round is for one vacancy on the Board.

• Public nominations were sought through Seek, jobs.govt and MBIE jobs. The role was also
advertised using LinkedIn and Google adverts and circulated through membership networks.

Peoples, Ministry of Disabled People, and Te Puni Kokiri.
• We also circulated the advert through the Royal Society’s Alert newsletter and New Zealand
universities.

• We have shortlisted 5 candidates and have not yet undertaken interviews.

Bioeconomy Science Institute positions were as follows:
• Public nominations were sought through Seek, jobs.govt and MBIE jobs. The role was also
advertised using LinkedIn and Google adverts and circulated through membership networks.
• Ministerial nominations were sought, and the advert was circulated through nominating
agencies, specifically Ministry for Women, Ministry for Ethnic Communities, Ministry for Pacific
Peoples, Ministry of Disabled People, and Te Puni Kokiri.
• We also circulated the advert through the Royal Society’s Alert newsletter and New Zealand
universities.

• We received 46 applications for the Entrepreneurial Scientist role and 35 applications for the
Strategic Finance role.

• We have shortlisted 9 candidates, five the Entrepreneurial Scientist role and four to the
Strategic Finance role and have not yet undertaken interviews.
• The appointment round is for two vacancies on the Board.
