Dear resident or business owner/occupier
ROTOKAURI/BAVERSTOCK ROAD UPGRADE
We would like your feedback about an upgrade Hamilton City Council is planning for Rotokauri Road
and Baverstock Road. The changes are designed to provide everyone with a range of genuine
transport options for moving around our city.
The project supports the Waikato Regional Council’s planned Meteor bus route linking the east and
west of Hamilton that will run 15 minutes in both directions on weekdays. The upgraded bus stops
and calmer streets will enable people to safely access this new high frequency bus service when it
launches.
What’s planned
• Two raised pedestrian crossings on Rotokauri Road
• Widening the footpath into a shared path on the northern side of Rotokauri Road between
Baverstock Road and the entrance to Nga Taiatea Wharekura
• A new bus stop and shelter on the northern side of Rotokauri Road outside Nga Taiatea
Wharekura
• Building a footpath on the southern side of Rotokauri Road between Baverstock Road and 109
Rotokauri Road
• A bus shelter on the southern side of Rotokauri Road outside 109 Rotokauri Road
• Removing the bus turn around area outside 78 Rotokauri Road and replacing it with a shared
path
• New bus stops outside 2 Baverstock Road and 5 Baverstock Road
• A raised pedestrian crossing on Baverstock Road between the new bus stops
• Widening the footpath on the western side of Baverstock Road between Rotokauri Road and 2
Baverstock Road.
Please refer to the plan on the following page for more detail about these proposed upgrades.

Rotokauri/Baverstock Upgrade TP4898. Why it’s important
This is one of 28 climate-friendly projects funded by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency’s Transport
Choices programme, which will help provide a connected network of walking, biking and bus routes
across the city. These networks are an important part of Council’s commitment to create a low
emissions transport system. In 2019, transport contributed around 64% of our city’s emissions.
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time, and we need to do everything we can
now to reduce our emissions.
Hamilton City Council’s vision for our transport network is to enable everyone to connect to people
and places in safe, accessible, and smart ways. Find out more about our transport strategy,
