Thank you for your request, which was partially transferred from the Ministry of Health | Manatū 
Hauora to Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora on 27 August 2025, asking for the following under the 
Of icial Information Act 1982 (the OIA):  
For covid infections in this time period, for each calendar year, I would ask the data be 
provided in the form: 
First: 
Covid infections, as raw data, divided by vaccination status (unvaccinated, partial, full, 
boosted) 
Second: 
Covid infections, divided by two groups: 
- Vaccinated individuals (any level of vaccination) as a percentage of total vaccinated 
population 
- Unvaccinated individuals as a percentage of total unvaccinated population 
And thirdly, 
- Vaccinated infections as a percentage of the total infections 
- Unvaccinated infections as a percentage of total infections 
Response 
COVID-19 vaccination status and COVID-19 cases are no longer linked in Health NZ’s underlying 
IT systems. We are therefore unable to provide the requested information as we do not have access 
to the relevant source data in the requested format. Responding to your request would require the 
creation of new information, which is not required under the OIA. Accordingly, this information is 
refused under section 18(g) of the OIA as it is not held by Health NZ, and we do not believe it is held 
by another agency subject to the OIA.
