Request for information
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 30 July 2025 which
asked for:
1. Al notes from the officer(s) concerning the arrest of Jack Basham and
subsequent search of him and his vehicle on May 5th 2024. This should include
details around the amount of cannabis found, where it was found, where the bong
was located etc.
2. Al notes and communications relating to any driver impairment tests that were
performed.
3. Al notes and communications if any, relating to the withdrawing of charges for
possession of cannabis and a possessing a cannabis bong before sentencing.
Al notes and internal communications concerning the arrest of Jack Basham on 5 May
2024 contain the private information of others and therefore cannot be disclosed.
Accordingly, the information you have requested is withheld in full under section 9(2)(a) of
the OIA to protect the privacy of natural persons.
Police considers the interests requiring protection by withholding the information are not
outweighed by any public interest in release of the information.
