Your request for official information, reference: HNZ00094326
Thank you for your email on 25 July 2025, asking Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ)
for the following under the Official Information Act 1982 (the OIA):
1.
Information you hold about the current balance of funds held by the Wellington Free
Ambulance Service Trust.
2.
Information you hold about any policies on the use of Wellington Free Ambulance
Service Trust funds.
3.
The text of any requests made by any WFA representative to Health New Zealand
(Te Whatu Ora) or to any government minister (if Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora was
party to such requests) requesting funds for the operation of Wellington Free Ambulance
Service. The search for such requests may be narrowed to the previous three years if that
is necessary for your response to this OIA.
On the 19 August 2025, we advised you that we needed to extend the timeframes for responding
to your request, and that you could expect a response on or before the 19 September 2025.
Response
In response I can confirm Health New Zealand does not hold information about:
• the current balance of funds held by the Wellington Free Ambulance Service Trust.
• any policies on the use of Wellington Free Ambulance Service Trust funds.
These parts of your request are therefore, refused under section 18(g) of the OIA as the
information you have requested is not held by Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora and we have no grounds
to believe that the information is held by another entity subject to the OIA.
However, some information is publicly available on the Wellington Free Ambulance Service Trust.
As is a member charity of the charity Wellington Free Ambulance Group. Wellington Free
Ambulance Group has financial details in its annual returns on the Charities Register found on the
Charities Services websi
te https://www.charities.govt.nz/.
As a registered charity, the Wellington Free Ambulance Service Trust has its rules, including the
application of income and capital, on the Charities Register found on the Charities Services
websi
te https://www.charities.govt.nz/
Health NZ has no record of any Wellington Free Ambulance representative requesting funds for the
operation of Wellington Free Ambulance Service since 1 July 2022 (when the current four-year
agreement for services began), therefore this is refused under section 18(e) of the OIA.
